Mrs Hamunyela has held the following positions in the past, General Manager: Postal Operations and Logistics (NamPost), General Manager: Business Development (Namibia Development Corporation) and Managing Director of Nedloans, Nedbank's micro financing operation. Until recently Mrs Hamunyela was Managing Director of Engen Namibia, a downstream petroleum company involved in the marketing and distribution of petroleum products thru its retail network and commercial customers.

The company also has the largest supply infrastructure in the country and Mrs Hamunyela was instrumental in putting up fuel depots in Grootfontein as well as Ondangwa. Mrs Hamunyela is presently pursuing private interest as a consultant in the fuel industry. In addition, she is the Non-Executive Chairperson of the NamPost Board of Directors as well as a Director at the Namibia Port Authorities.

She has in the past also served as a Director on the NamWater Board. Mrs Hamunyela is a B Com graduate from the University of the North, has attended the Stellenbosch Business School's Senior Management Program - SMP- and holds an MBA from the Maastricht School of Management. In addition, she is proficient in crafting and implementing business strategies with Executive management experiences in fuel logistics, banking, operations, and marketing.
