As former Standard Bank Namibia Chairman for seven years, Dr Hangala has held executive level banking and investment responsibilities for numerous MME's and large industry acquisitions and related transactions. He also served as Chief Executive Officer for NamPower, Namibia's largest public utility and is the owner of Namibia Motors, a distributor of GM, Isuzu, and Opel brands. Dr Hangala has significant telecoms experience as a former shareholder and Director of Corporate Strategy for wireless network operator Cell One.

He brings extensive mining experience as Chairman of Evi Mining and as a former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Mines and Energy in Namibia. Dr Hangala holds a Ph.D., a MSc. and a BSc. in Geology and Mineralogy from the University of Helsinki in Finland. In addition, he also holds a Certificate in Executive Management from Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program and a Certificate in Management from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
