Koos du Toit, after 5 years as Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Auditing at the University of Namibia was the joint founding partner of BDO Spencer Stewart Chartered Accountants (Namibia) in 1994 and established BDO as the 6th largest Namibian accounting and auditing firm before retiring from public practice in 2001.

He has played and continues to play an active role in the activities of the profession and statutory regulatory authorities governing the audit and accounting profession in Namibia, having served as Chairman of the Public Accountant's and Auditor's Board of Namibia (appointed by the Minister of Finance) from 1998 to 2004. He served as President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants from 1998 to 2000. He served 20 years as the CEO of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Namibia retiring in June 2020. He was elected to President of the Eastern, Central and Southern African Federation of Accountants from 2009 to 2011 and to President of the Pan African Federation of Accountants serving in this capacity from 2017 to 2019.

Up to April 2011 he served as the inaugural Chairman of the Board of the Namibia Vocational Education and Training Authority (appointed by the Minister of Higher Education, Training and Employment Creation) in July 2008.

From 2002 to 2006 he was CEO of Namlife, a Namibian long-term assurance company 2006) and carried out a successful turn-around management contract on behalf of the shareholders (the International Finance Corporation and African Life). This contract terminated with the sale of Namlife to Sanlam Namibia. During this period he held office for two years as Chairman of the Life Assurers Association of Namibia.

Other Board appointments have included directorships of the State owned utility companies Namibia Power Corporation Ltd (2002 – 2005), and Namibia Water Corporation Ltd (2004 – 2007). For both Corporations he was Chair of the Audit Committee. During 2005 – 2007 he was appointed to the Audit committee of the Namibian Tourism Board.

From 2008 and 2010 he served a contract with the Antwerp Diamond Bank as CFO of the Antwerp Diamond Bank Private Equity Fund. He currently serves as a Trustee of the NAMPRO FUND NO 1 AND 2 TRUSTS, unlisted investment trusts providing alternative financing focused on small and medium Namibian enterprises.

He is a shareholder and Financial Director of Paramount Healthcare and Employee Benefits Consulting (Pty) Ltd, a prominent Namibian company operating in the employee benefits and healthcare sectors and serves as the Chairman of the Board of the Paramount Healthcare Group.

His academic experience through lecturing at the University of Namibia as well as his postgraduate studies in economics (conducted at the University of Cape Town) provide him with a broad range of skills relating to research, education and training.
